Range Instruction and Shooting Proficiency
This event comprises two sections: range instruction and shooting proficiency.
The range instruction is primarily concerned with safety and the safe handling of the firearm. A limited amount of shooting instruction may also be provided.
The shooting proficiency is 50 rounds, using either a revolver or semi-automatic pistol, chambered in 22LR or higher. Concealed or holster draw is not allowed.
Passing score is 70 percent or 175 points, out of a possible score of 250. If you fail the proficiency test, ONE retry will be permitted.
You will need to bring the following with you for the proficiency:
- Your firearm, unloaded in a case or bag
- Firearms may be rented onsite
- Red dot or green dot optics are allowed
- Magnification or laser sights are NOT allowed
- Suppressors are NOT allowed
- 1 magazine, unloaded. (You will only need 1 magazine.)
- At least 50 rounds of brass-cased ammo (no steel case)
- Ammo may be purchased onsite
- If you bring your own ammo, you will need to show it to the rangemaster to verify brass casings
- Eye and ear protection
- Form LTC-100/101/104 from online course
- Valid Government ID
Closed-toed shoes are required by the range.
Shooting proficiencies are held regularly on Saturday and Sunday afternoons, by appointment. Please contact us to schedule or for more information.
